Another free model has just been added to the purokblender model repository.It's a bird model courtesy of Matangdilis of http://matangdilis.blogspot.com.
The maya model ( no, not that expensive 3D software. It's just a Philippine bird ) is based on Jared Reisweber's ( http://www.hartworks.net/blender/jared/ ) tutorial and Matangdilis has succeeded in localizing that complicated rig system described in the tutorial.
Matangdilis is currently working on a short film project he calls Proyektong Halo-Halo ( Halo-Halo Project ). The film seeks to animate Jose Rizal's story about the monkey and the turtle and the maya model is one of the characters for the project. Although he mentions that he wishes to produce cartoony characters, the maya model is more realistic than cartoony. His eye for details enables himto create a richly textured bird with particle systems.
